The Various Uses and Benefits of Bottled Gas
Whether considering the serene settings of rural living, when a remote cottage requires additional heating, or contemplating the next family leisure adventure that will include a BBQ feast, bottled gas is an often overlooked but indispensable resource for both scenarios.
I'm Grant, and I work in the Pearsons Solid Fuel Team (which also includes gas!). In this month's blog, I'll share my thoughts on how diverse bottled gas can be and highlight its benefits.
Portability
It's obvious, but that's often a good place to start. The standout advantage of bottled gas is its portability. Bottled gas is easily transported, unlike piped natural gas, making it an ideal solution for those living in remote rural areas, like many of our customers across the South of Scotland and North Northumberland, or those enjoying outdoor leisure activities. Bottled gas provides a reliable source of energy wherever you go.
Versatility
Bottled gas is incredibly versatile, with applications ranging from cooking and heating to powering appliances and vehicles. In rural settings, where access to mains gas may be limited or non-existent, bottled gas offers a practical alternative. It can be used in a variety of appliances, including gas stoves, heaters, and even refrigerators, ensuring that rural homes are well-equipped.
Reliability
In rural areas, where power outages can be more frequent and prolonged, bottled gas offers a dependable energy source. It can be stored for long periods without degrading, ensuring you have a steady fuel supply even during emergencies. This reliability is especially crucial in harsh weather conditions, where bottled gas can provide essential heating and cooking solutions.
Efficiency and Cost-Effectiveness
Bottled gas is known for its high energy efficiency. It burns cleanly, producing more heat per unit compared to other fossil fuels. This efficiency translates to cost savings. Additionally, modern gas appliances are designed to be highly efficient, further enhancing the cost-effectiveness of using bottled gas.
Camping and Caravanning
Bottled gas is a staple for campers and caravanners. It fuels portable stoves, heaters, and lamps, enhancing the outdoor experience with the comforts of home. Bottled gas is compact and easy to transport, so adventurers can enjoy hot meals and warm surroundings, no matter how remote their location.
As a bit of a side note, our colleagues at POD Hire are always happy to help if you are considering a safe and secure storage solution for your caravan.
Barbecuing and Outdoor Cooking
For leisure activities at home, like barbecuing, bottled gas is the preferred choice. Gas barbecues offer convenience, quick ignition, and consistent heat (reducing the guesswork around whether the bangers are ready to eat or not), making outdoor cooking effortless and enjoyable. And let's reflect on the fact that we live in the UK, so while we always hope for a warm summer, the weather doesn't always play ball, and a gas-fueled outdoor heater is perfect for taking off the chill. So, for a warm and well-fed family who are making the most of their outdoor space, bottled gas delivers every time.
Boating
We are an island nation with many rivers, lochs, and lakes nearby, so for those of you with sea legs, bottled gas is an ideal fuel for boats, too. Its portability and efficiency make it a perfect fuel source for boating enthusiasts, providing the necessary amenities for extended stays on the water.
The benefits of installing a wood burning stove extend far beyond mere warmth; they encompass efficiency, sustainability, ambiance, and versatility. Whether you're seeking to lower your heating costs, reduce your environmental impact, or simply create a cosy retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life, our team is on hand to work with you on the project.
